Meta bills WhatsApp messages individually, and publishes every rate. Your provider bills you a bundle. This works out the difference.

Meta charges a separate, far higher rate when an authentication message lands on a number outside your market. Most BSP invoices show a single "authentication" line and do not break the two apart.
If any part of your OTP traffic goes abroad, it is worth asking your provider for the split — in writing. A small share of international volume can quietly account for a large share of the bill.

Fixed. No per-message margin, ever again.
A Business Solution Provider resells Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta charges them per delivered message at published rates; they charge you a bundle that also covers their dashboard, support and margin. Nothing is wrong with paying for software — but the message cost and the software cost arrive as one number, so the split is rarely visible.
Mostly no. Service messages were free from 1 November 2024, but Meta resumed charging for them on 1 October 2026, at the same rate as utility messages. What's left: every WhatsApp Business phone number gets its first 1,000 delivered service messages a month free, reset monthly. Past that, Meta bills them like any other message — which is also new since 1 October 2026.
When a customer messages your business, a 24-hour window opens, and until 1 October 2026 Meta did not charge for utility messages sent inside it. That exemption ended that date: utility is now billed in full whether or not the window is open. The window still matters for one thing — it is what lets you send non-template service replies at all — but it no longer changes what any message costs.
Meta prices an authentication message by the country of the number receiving it, and applies a markedly higher rate when an OTP lands on a number outside your market. Most invoices show one combined "authentication" line, so a small share of international volume can account for a disproportionate share of the bill without ever appearing as its own item.
Yes — they are Meta's published per-message rates for the WhatsApp Business Platform, effective 1 October 2026 and retrieved 5 October 2026 from Meta's official rate card. This calculator uses base-tier rates only and ignores Meta's volume discounts, which means Meta's cost is shown at its highest and any markup is understated rather than exaggerated.
A fixed fee to move you onto the direct Meta Cloud API as a Meta-approved Tech Provider: your existing number, message templates and chat history move with you, and you are live in about seven days. After that you pay Meta directly at its published rates, with no per-message margin in between.
